THE REVIEWS
Richard Taylor ARCM
I bought this book to try something a bit different after years of slogging away at scales. My pupils have found it a very refreshing approach. Perhaps this is because they are more used to visual images.
The diagrams are clear and easier to read than scales on staves. I recommend you try it.

'I couldn’t quite imagine what this series contained but when I opened the book, I thought that this is fantastic idea! Little and even older children can easily follow visually.’

‘…anyone who finds it helpful to see scale and fingerings written on top of a picture of a keyboard will benefit from these books by Alfred….I’d warmly recommend consideration of these books’

I have seen pupils’ eyes light up when viewing the most helpful keyboard diagrams with marked finger patterns. Everyone learns differently, and this book has been a revelation to me and become an invaluable learning aid
for my pupils.

We really recommend Jane Mann’s Key to Scales and Arpeggios Books. Using this material the students learn the scales and arpeggios by themselves with correct notes and correct fingering. This gives us more time to focus on developing an excellent technique. We strongly recommend these books for beginner pianists.

A total godsend after 33 years of teaching and having to write in a manual theory book, what an absolute gem of a find!

I am very happy to have this splendid book as part of my dyslexia-friendly music teacher’s toolkit! I love the visual clarity of the scale diagrams and the way the method simplifies the scale fingering patterns, separating them into a small number of easily recognisable groups.
This book makes learning scales much more fun and so very much less intimidating!
